JKBMS Inverter Edition Problems/Issues | No Support / Help to fix major issues. - DO NOT BUY ! Warning (as of Oct.12.2024)

Hello, I have the same problem as you. The BMS constantly halves the charging current, I have already downgraded to 15.27, but the problem remains. I also noticed that I cannot use the parallel button in the PC software. Sorry for my Google English. Regards, Micha
Have you anything attached to the daisy chained RS485? ie something to sniff the network traffic. If something is interfering on the network then that can cause the issue you are describing? Might be worth checking your cables are pushed home. Have you put the master back to 0 on dip switches after updating and then the others 1,2,... etc?

Been there, got the t-shirt. A daemon was firing up and injecting traffic at the wrong baud rate on to the network intermittently.

The two BMS are connected directly with the supplied cable. Master dip switch all at the bottom, slave dip switch 1 (left) at the top

Will I buy HW16 to replace my existing HW15?
No. I will keep using HW15; the current bugs/problems does not bother me much.
I would buy the HW16 ONLY on new projects though - unless a different company comes up with a better BMS

Possible 15.30 Bug:

Given: 4 JK Battery Boxes (herein called JK00, JK01, JK02, JK03), all HW15.0 and FW15.30

Situation: Early morning circa 5AM where SUN is still out
Deye Inverter is consuming (discharging) Battery at a combined 15~20A (roughly 2-6A per battery).

1. After inspecting the SOC of each battery, I disabled DISCHARGE for the lowest SOC (which was JK03). And so it (JK03) did.
2. By 7:30 sun is UP, and I inspected the Batteries.
3. All batteries were seen Charging with 1~3A, except JK03 which is 0.0A. I also checked Voltages and confirmed JK03 was ~50mv lower that the others. Why it did not Charge?
4. I turned off turned on JK03 (using the button), still now current flow (not charging).
5. I used mobile APP and turned on DISCHARGE for JK03 and it started Charging. WHAT?

After a few minutes, I disabled DISCHARGE, wait a few seconds to confirm 0.0A, then enable DISCHARGE, JK03 was discharging as it should. It seems that the phenomenon only occurs when the whole thing starts at "DISCHARGING" state.

Will redo this test once the scenario presented itself again tomorrow morning.

Pure disappointment?
New hardware? Meh.......fix the existing hardware first......no one gonna buy the new version. Ain't gonna be a beta tester for a product that will never get a working firmware.

Yeah, I found one that's interesting last night. I'm waiting on more batteries for a bigger bank, so I top off when power is 25% the cost of during the day here. Scheduled charge time arrived, and I've got the BMS set to go to 100% SOC at a certain voltage. It doesn't take anything else into account, so 30 seconds in to charging, SOC was magically 100% because a single cell pushed up past the set voltage.

I'm open loop, so doesn't matter much, but that's fairly brain dead. Victron shunt FTW.

I will say, with a couple of tweaks on calibration voltage and amps, it matches the shunt SOC within 1%.

I'm *so* excited 4 more batteries are coming with the same BMS.

And with 15.32?

So the “new” version is shorter? So basically all the current mounting brackets may not work?

Well the new version board explains where all the programming resource has been diverted too and where it will continue to be focused.

So expect a token extra firmware for HW15 and then use what non JK resources there are to fix any remaining issues.

HW14 will be ignored.

The new hardware will get all the new firmware until the next Gen JK when the releases will stop, rinse and repeat.

I just have the SOC drift to deal with, so no next Gen for me.

October 8th. Tick tock, clock is running out. Not holding my breath on this. An update would be nice, however considering the direction they were considering raises a few questions in the mind...

Ohh brother, a major HW change it seems and even looks like they changed the RJ45-Comms & LED board.
Changing form factors for the BMS & attachments isn't terribly "bright".
So now vendors will need to MOD Case Faceplates for that too ? Ohhh they'll just love that !
Ohhh Lordie ! They went beyond "fixing" and likely caused a pile more issues that will be discovered over time.

I figure Andy will put out a Video soon enough and a few select others and we'll all watch & wonder to see how this plays out.

EDIT:
Just noticed the photo's for the plugs, they changed that too, so harnesses etc have to be swapped if you change BMS. Now that is yet another Dumb Move. WTH are they thinking ???

Got a feeling JK is getting this from other supplier whom successfully bid for the tender.......

JK is an OEM and makes little to no sense to go from a standard interface (RJ-CAN ports) to something else that will force vendors to mod case faceplates... Let alone the other stuff. I fully expect to hear more about it from few vendors who I know will NOT be happy. Not like the Vendors are not currently having to "cope with JK failures & shortcomings" and now this added pile of Horse Pucks...

Amy only charged me $19 for a custom faceplate with compression plate/BMS mount.
I sure won't be switching BMSs unless something simple and flawless turns up.
I won't be holding my breath.

Jikong > JKBMS > JKESS > what next?
They are getting closer and closer to the correct name of JkAss .
Why do the chinese constantly change brand names? Are they trying to get rid of a bunch of accumulated dissatisfied customers? Or what?

Successful brands value their name and do not change it not just every two years, but for decades and centuries.
