JKBMS Inverter Edition Problems/Issues | No Support / Help to fix major issues. - DO NOT BUY ! Warning (as of Oct.12.2024)

There is a set sequence to be followed when setting the V,s, before reducing the RCV other V,s will have to be also reduced before. There is a video on YouTube by Andy from offgridgarage which covers this in detail.
I will go and re-watch. I thought I'd got the sequence right but clearly not, as the app is complaining every time I try and do it. Thanks! :)

If you set your parameters from the bottom up in the app, going lowest to highest, it should likely work. It's very unintuitive. However, the way they have it, the upper limits depend on the lower limits.

Here are mine:

My charge settings are a bit higher than I'd like, but I've been working on getting charging to last long enough to balance.

Which you have to change first depends on values, can't make "Excessive Voltage Shutdown" And "Recover now that voltage is OK" out of order during the process of changing them.

Unless you are increasing the values,
Then you need to start at the top and work your way down.

He was referring to entering the Values on the BMS App, if you start from the bottom and work up, you have less incidents of "failure to send".

Also, far earlier in this thread, I mentioned that is using the PC App to set config, you can use the TAB key to go to the next field and it does jump around and set things in proper order. This and many other issues have been sent to JK without a peep in response to anyone. The sad part, it's a matter of sorting the fields into proper order, for example like UVPR set before UVP so that UnderVolt Recovery is higher than UnderVolt Protect.

About the SOH, State of health, I see this in my Solar Assistant. I assume it will come from the JK inverter BMSses.
What does it indicate exactly? Hoes does is determine this value?

After a few weeks I am on 98%, 97%, 99%. Not sure if I have to take this for "serious" :P

It's the BMS' estimate of how much of the rated capacity is actually usable from the battery.
It is expected to degrade over time and/or with hard use, for LiFePO4.

If you've really lost 3% after "a few" weeks, I'd be watching that carefully.

Hmm? The only way for the SOH percentage to drop is to have the BMS encounter low voltage disconnect situation....

Does your battery pack often encounter LVD?

Good day all,
I have a problem with RCV and RFV time settings in JK-BMS (firmware v15.33). Whenever I want to change these settings I get this error message (see attached image), I know that many parameters depend on others, but I can't figure out what's wrong with these, maybe someone has encountered a similar problem?

I had the exact same issue. I needed to use the computer program to change it.

Go through 'Andy's off grid garage' setup review. Error may be due to another parameter voltage setting must be higher or lower setting.

Seems JK has some rather silly voltage setting hierarchy on the various items. Generally, the list from top to bottom must have progressively lower voltage user settings. Intermingling the functions to keep voltage setting level hierarchy is rather illogical ordering.

I don't believe RCV or RFV do anything unless you have inverter communications. Also requires inverter comm for 10 amp charging buck converter to operate. If BMS 10A buck converter reduces charging current to avoid a cell overvoltage during charging the inverter must know to avoid dropping to float mode voltage as charging current charger sees drops off.

All settings are the same as Andy, JK-BMS has CAN connection to Victron system, but RCV and RFV are still not available for configuration (

Thank you, friend. I’ll give it a go again when I next get some time in the workshop! Cheers from Down Under.

Did you try resetting all settings to default by pressing the LiFePO4 button at the top of the settings page in the mobile app after flashing to 15.33?

As you enter new values, do it in an order so "Over Voltage" is always higher than "Over Voltage Recovery", and so "Under Voltage" is always lower than "Under Voltage Recovery".

It won't let you set a value that doesn't make sense, given other values.

Has anyone gotten a SAJ H1-4K-S2 communicating with a JK BMS v15 (PB2A16520P)?

I'm using a CAT6 ethernet cable from CAN to CAN port but none of the available protocols in the app seem to be recognised.

Have you set the bus address?
Not sure, but I think inverter might be address 0, so BMS can be set to 1 as shown in photo.

Also make sure you Can L and Can H pinouts are correct both ends, JK's documentation gets it wrong.

I thought slavery was abolished... At least they could have called them servants... there IS a difference, you know...

Here in California, the voters again rejected abolition of slavery.

SMA documentation now says "Primary" and "Secondary", but inverter menus retain the traditional "Master" and "Slave".
The slaves are required to do what the master says.

I think our JK BMS is set to #1, "1000" DIP switch settings. Worth a try if nothing else works.

simple and no politics required.

In that case, I demand we replace the "archaic" diskette save logo with USB trident symbol: :ROFLMAO:

I suggest we just stick with the master and slave terminology, there is nothing about it. It is just a terminology.
We still call tiger/lion as big cat, don't we?
