JKBMS Inverter Edition Problems/Issues | No Support / Help to fix major issues. - DO NOT BUY ! Warning (as of Oct.12.2024)

You need to set the BMS you want to manage settings/upgrade to ID:1 and select that when connecting to an individual BMS.

IF you have a set of packs in parallel linked together, you can plug into the 1st pack (either 0 or 1 pending on setup) and see the data for all the BMS in parallel but you cannot change settings.

Again, if you wish to update firmware, it must be on ID:1
You cannot upgrade firmware via a Parallel connection.

Oh yeah, That also! It has been a couple weeks since I got mine setup and I suffer from olds-heimers.:fp2

Bonjour, je ne comprends pas pourquoi je n’ai pas le statut de charge ( bio, absorption). Pourtant j’ai bien la version 4.3 sur iOS ou Android avec le Firmware 4.38

ID:1 set. No other BMS connected, just this one with jumper 1 set to ON.
There is nothing more in the display than those 4 empty meters.
Does somebody have experience with this V15 hardware? Why do info at jkbms do not reply?

We have people through this entire thread working with V14 & V15 hardware. As noted EARLY on and rep[seated many many times, this is about the Trouble we have with JKBMS, the problems, issues, failures and the Absolute Neglect by JiKong Support who refuse to interact with ANYONE including Vendors when it comes to support & technical help. They NEVER reply !

NOTE if you are using the PHONE App and are connected to a BMS, the PC-App will fail. Same goes if PC-App is connected to BMS the Phone App will fail to connect.

It sounds like the previous jk demons are now exised and now it's safe to buy once more?

I am planning to use with victron multiplus2 with Venus OS.

NO the demons are still there. Jikong still refuses to respond to anyone, they still do not update their firmware/software or anything else anywhere "official". NOPE NOT FIXED !!! Heck, even firmware updates are shaky as hell.... BUT OK, Feel free to reinterpret whatever you want, it is your wallet, your choice & your consequences. Good Luck with it.

So far so good other than my learning curve on getting them setup/configured properly on the 6 batteries I have them in and have 5 more I am currently putting together.

True, JK only assign technician/engineer to Andy........he is basically their "official" product ambassador at this stage.

But honestly, the recent firmware update mostly fixed critical issues, other than the inaccurate shunt.

My battery packs are properly charged now, assuming if there is sufficient sunlight and I can top them fully at least once a week to prevent the inaccurate shunt from wrecking havoc.

I just bought my third one, last issue was SOc drift and that is now a lot better. When you look at the alternatives you reconsider. Yes the apps and updates are all over the place and a silent support but.

I haven't updated my firmware since installing the BMS back in August of 2024. I'm not using closed loop communications - no communications at all. If there are issues with how the BMS is operating I'm unaware of it. Ignorance is bliss? Been kind of busy to worry about it. Cells are well balanced and the battery charges/discharges within expectations.

According to @upnorthandpersonal's download site, 15.38 is the latest. Is it worth applying?

I'm usually of the mind -- stay up to date. If you're open loop though, not having issues, I'd say leave it alone. The base BMS, IMO, has always been fine. Inverter comms and SoC calculation, different story.

And that's in the back of my mind. If everybody was raving about how well it did with closed loop communications, I probably would enable that. My Quattro rarely charges my battery, so closed loop isn't something I need.

I'm confused as you say there's are no updates but there very clearly are updates that people seem to be happy with. Thus I'm not quite sure how to interpret your comments.

No updates, as in official updates on the manufacturer website. These updates all come through 'unofficially' from JiKong through Andy from off-grid-garage, which I mirror on my side.

1) I started this thread,
2) Myself & UpNorthAndPersonal also did side work for JiKong a while back and got the sticky end off the stick for our troubles.
3) I and others are crossed connected to vendors & suppliers at various levels and can use those channels and even they are ignored by JiKong.
4) I do NOT play the hyperbole game NOR do I say things with more than ONE meaning, neither does UpNorthAndPersonal.

I appreciate you are pretty new here but we are original Members of this is forum and have been at this game for years.

Lastly, I am only still here while this remains unresolved as I have pulled back from here & other sites to focus on more important & life critical things, I am therefore not interested in wasting my time either.

I did a 15:38 update run, 2 Packs took it OK, 3rd Pack bricked 3 times & I had to force revert and get down to dresetting hardware by pulling wires, which cost me 3 flippin' hours. Teh rest of the bank stays as is because to pull these off the shelves to pop the covers is an absolute nightmare & I need extra hands to do so.

IF you are on Open-Loop and the packs work (regardless of SOC) keep with it till they actually really fix it.
For some the Closed-Loop may require flashing up BUT beware that a BMS can brick very easily and it's "No Fun" to have get deep to reset & revert them back.

OK, It's still very unclear why you think I should still avoid it. Sounds like the flashing process didn't work very well? Is that what "till they actually really fix it" refers to?

When wiring the bms balance/cell leads is cell 1 where the main positive is for the battery or the main negative that goes to the bms?

@doox00 , if you really have to ask, I recommend you to find a proper electrician or someone who knows what they are doing.
I assumed it was to the negative side but I like to have verification from others, your response was not helpful. I have completely rebuilt my pole barn, including all the electrical, insulation, epoxy floors, framing etc and many other diy renovations, builds and so on. I have been a diy person my entire life. I installed my 70k+ solar install myself this past summer and passed all inspections first try. I am not stupid nor am I a genius, but I am also not ashamed to ask for help or opinions. Get off your high horse, you know the title of this forum is DIYsolarforum.

Oh wow, my deepest apology for not recognizing your supreme DIY mastery. Clearly, someone who has single-handedly reconstructed the very fabric of their property, flawlessly installed 70K+ solar system and passed all inspections (questionable from the other threads) with flying colors should never have to endure the horror of an unhelpful response.

But you’re right, asking for opinions is noble. It’s just a shame that receiving anything less than a perfectly catered answer is apparently an unforgivable offense. I’ll be sure others will provide you a better response to better align with your DIY Hall of Fame status next time.

This post tells you where each balance lead goes. It assumes you have the same BMS that I do.

Lol, you are something else, and yes, I passed all inspections first try, considering I knew absolutely nothing about solar a year ago I am quite happy with my progress and results of my install. Ohh, and yes my diy skills are typically quite good, you can label it however you like, you chose mastery, not sure I would go that far but thank you for the compliment.

Thank you for the clarification, I did see the diagram from JK prior but did not have complete confidence it was totally correct.
