so ive just ordered a seplos 280 v4 box, and 16 eve280k cells.

they will be installed in a small (circa 10 sq m) room on our roof. stone walls, concrete cieling, a small window for ventilation that draws cooler air up the stairs from the room below that has vents into the basement. putting it here makes sense because, this is where the inverter etc are located, and secondly, if, god forbid, there would be a fire, there is very little up there, its the highest point of the house, and separated from the rest of the house by a fire rated door.

the problem is it gets hot in there in summer. it is totally unshaded, so gets the sun on 3 walls and the roof. southern italian summers are pretty intense so for 2 months it regularly goes over 35 degrees C in there.

in winder it gets pretty chilly too, but luckily we very rarely get below freezing here, and theres enough "plant" in that room that it never gets too cold.

the walls are already painted white, i might paint the roof white too.. however having looked at the spec sheet of the 280k cells, the cell life at 45 degrees is less than half that at 25 degrees, so id really prefer not to let them get hot.

i *could* seal up the room, put insulation in, an ac split etc.. but that is gonna be pretty spendy in both materials and wasted energy.

i was contemplating the idea of "boxing off" the batteries in a small compartment, and putting some kind of mini AC just on that, hence minimising the volume to cool.

anyone have any thoughts?
