I currently have an 18k PV in off grid only that feeds into a 200A non-fused transfer switch that then feeds into a 200A plugin neutral Siemens panel using approximately 30 feet of 90°C rated 4/0 Aluminum. The AC breaker on the 18k PV is 200A and the service panel is 200A breaker as well. The amp rating on that cable would be 205A.
First, would this be code compliant if I can never output more than the 50A per leg?
Second, is there some way to configure the EG4 18k PV to never output more then 50A even if it had a generator or other passthrough so it would be code compliant? or will I need to have some breaker added in line somewhere that is rated for whatever cable I am using? I'd like to use copper 1/0 between the EG4 and the transfer switch which would lower the amp rating a lot.
As side note, I had the 4/0 aluminum already so that is why it is being used.
