LiTime Won't Respond to Emails About a Bad Battery They Sold Me

A little while ago I bought a battery from LiTime off their website. I bought it to match an identical, 200ah, 12v battery that I had previously bought from them. It arrived within a couple weeks but when I tested it with my multimeter, it only showed only 5-6 volts, so I put it on my smart charger. The battery heated up badly and swelled out on all sides during charging and it did not take a charge. I took photos of the swelling and I won't even store it in my house for fear of fire risk. I sent several emails to LiTime and they are refusing to respond to my messages. I've been forced to resort to a credit card chargeback through my credit card bank since this is my only recourse to try to get my money back. Even if I am sucessful, I'll still have the expense of disposing of that junk battery. Has anybody else had problems with LiTime with a lack of customer service after the sale? I have seen other similar complaints on Facebook about them. If this is their policy now, then the Federal Trade Commission needs to be alerted to them and they need to be shut down in the USA. It's my opinion that LiTime is not a reputable company any more.

Oh man. You're lucky you used a credit and not a debit card.
For sure, using a credit card was a good choice. An even better choice would have been to buy it through Amazon. I'm sure if that was the case, they would not behave like this. Amazon would not tolerate it. I still lodged a complaint though Amazon because that's where I bough my first battery from LiTime and the warrantee for that one is likely worthless too.

LiTime did a swap of a battery for me, all on their dime ... I did go thru email support, pics, and such, but they agreed a BMS was bad (from the pics of wild multimeter voltages), and sent me the UPS label. The swap was effortless, as UPS got the old one ... LiTime verified their pickup of old one, and shipped me a replacement.

Batteries (I believe from every vendor) are shipped at half-full state, and the LiTime manual has the procedure for getting them brought to full before putting into use.

Without knowing more details or seeing your pics, we can't really tell what went wrong with your particular scenario, but I've been continuing to buy, and get, good batteries from them. Please post as much detail as you can, so we can all learn from them.

Nothing at all wrong with CreditCard reverse, as that is the ultimate "warranty" ... especially if you have pics of product failure!

I have pics of the buldged out sides with a level on it. It bulged out a good 1/2" on all sides. I also have pics of my multimeter, voltage reading. It got very hot during charging. I have several other lithium ion batteries and none have been received like this garbage. Maybe LiTime has changed their policy on returns. Perhaps they are getting to many bad ones back. Who knows.

Which smart charger? My experience with smart chargers has been that they will not "recognize" and charge a battery below ~10V.

Please share them!
It was trying to charge it. The voltage went up a little with it charging. It got super hot and swelled up though so I ceased charging.

Yes, i understood that the first time you wrote that. Which is why i asked the follow up questions.

Why not share your pics too?

Something seems odd here.

Update:
Still no responses from LiTime what so ever. I filed for a chargeback through my credit card bank and that process has been dragging along. I did supply them with all the documentation and photos to support my claim. I haven't heard LiTime's response to them yet, if any. I see now that LiTime is getting involved with Bassmasters Tournaments trying to pry their way more into the fishing market. There's going to be a lot of disappointed fishermen if they are successful.

Where’s that thread when someone bought a “reconditioned” litime battery that had a “shipping puncture” that was discovered 3 months after arrival.

Will then was able to strong arm litime into offering a refund.

I'm confident that my credit card company will refund my money.
