Installing in a 5th wheel.

Current Equipment

Multiplus II 12v 3k 50 120x2
Smart Shunt 500
4 Litime 230AH (920 AH) 12v configuration.

Actively working on installing 3,350 watts of solar, running 2 separate strings and installing two Smart Solar MPPT 250/100 chargers.

Would like help making sure my settings for charging are correct.

With the smart solar chargers, what prevents charging when freezing temps occur? Is it the smart shunt?

Thank you.

Get a Cerbo.
Get a temp sensor for the smartshunt.
Enable DVCC, SVS, SCS and set the smartshunt as the STS source.
Enable low temp charge protection in each MPPT and the inverter charger tab.

All chargers:
Absorption to 14.4V with 30 minutes fixed absorption for fast charging (generator)
Absorption to 13.8V with 4 hours fixed absorption for slow charging (shore/solar).
Float to 13.5V.

The Cerbo is after I install the solar. So you need the Cerbo to stop the mppt from charging? I have the temp sensor on order. I bought the one for the mulipus. Now I have 2. 🤣🤷‍♂️

Nope. It's first. The body needs a brain.

So you need the Cerbo to stop the mppt from charging?

As others have presented other solutions, not exclusively, but the MPPT needs a temp sensor input as they can't do it themselves (their internal heating interferes with temp).

The smartshunt temp sensor can also be used with the shunt and MPPTs in a bluetooth network to share the shunt's voltage, current and temperature.

The bluetooth network leaves the inverter out, so it's good that you have a MP temperature sensor.

You apparently have everything you need to get low temp charge protection on all devices.

VE.Smart network with smart dongle and both MPPTs added.
Smart dongle will supply MP with temp for low temp charge protection.

Still... get a cerbo... :P

Ok let's get a list.

Cerbo GX, ✔️

😍

VE bus cables... 3 smart shunt and 2 chargers. Right?

RJ45 UTP cable for VE.Bus from Cerbo to inverter.
VE.Direct cable for shunt
VE.Direct cable for MPPT 1
VE.Direct cable for MPPT 2

or

RJ45 UTP cable for VE.Bus from Cerbo to inverter.
VE.Direct cable for shunt
RJ45 UTP cable for VE.CAN between MPPT 1 and MPPT 2 with terminator in 2nd VE.CAN port on MPPT 2
RJ45 UTP cable for VE.CAN between MPPT 1 and Cerbo with terminator in 2nd VE.CAN port on Cerbo.

The above allows you to have 2X free VE.Direct ports for future devices.

VE.CAN allows you to daisy chain up to 25 MPPTs to the Cerbo.

EDIT: I have updated my tagline to more accurately describe myself.

You could attach a Smart Battery sense directly to the batteries, then network that to the SCC.
No

He have shunt
So he only need a temp sensor from a Victron bmv 712 series

This one is blue.
If you have black model its not correct for a shunt
That one is for the multiplus and other Inverter series

You can use the multiplus temp sensor on a multiplus.
But if you shutdown the multiplus .
You have no temperature sensor to your mppt.

For the rest Victron gx unit you can go for a PI unit with Victron os.
Cheaper and it work.
But you have to program that if not go for a gx unit .if you have the cash
Go for gx unit with a display

See gx unit list

Adding a cerbo is over complicating things. Create a Victron network, adding all items to the network. The MPPTs will receive temperature from the Bluetooth dongle. You don’t need anything else.

Ok I'm working on finding these on Amazon.

Any special cat, 6 ok?
