I heard about Colorado offering a trade-in deal for income qualified to give applicants $6000 for any old or failed emissions car. I've got a 1998 Ford Escort I'm hoping to trade in.

Also Federal Rebate - $7500
Colorado State Rebate - $5000
Xcel Rebate - $5500

That totals up to $24k! How could I pass that up!!
I'm pretty sure I've settled on a 2024 Chevy Equinox so will get it for about half-price assuming all this works out!
Still waiting on approval on the Trade-in deal but otherwise I'm all set I think.
The rebates and trade-in will all come off the top, the Xcel rebate after the sale.

Woo-Hoo!

P.S. and even if I don't go through with it the plug in the garage will be a nice addition to the house.

I have a level 1 charger plugged into a 20a outlet and it charges my fisker ocean 24/7. I work from home, so it's more than enough for me.

If i were going to buy another ev, i would buy another fisker ocean, because they're better than anything chevy/ford/tesla/byd put out. But that's just my opinion

I have heard Colorado has some crazy emissions standards like California. I wonder what stops someone from buying a junky car for $500 using that to get the EV charger.

Did you get it?

Cash for clunkers was a big deal many years ago. Ppl had been buying cheap to trade in but junk car prices climbed. The price for clunkers went sky high because of the pollution credits paid by big "dirty" corporations. They made tons of pollution at those big corporations so instead cleaning up their mess just bought pollution credits in form of "cash for clunkers." It was a good deal for buyers but meant these corporations never cleaned up their messes. Sometimes they would send wrecker to pick up clunkers. That deal got ppl to stop hoarding junk cars and junking up their yards... cars on blocks in front of house or drive ways.

Unfortunately a lot of classics got smashed when traded in too. Of course those classics of today were common and cheap back then. I sold a running and driving 1969 Camaro for $675.... they were common and cheap. That car today would be $25,000+

I looked at EV many times but am about convinced if buying one it would be used. Probably not new .

The EV are not effected by altitudes like ICE so higher Elevation in CO would be performance - fun for ppl there vs Derated ICE. Negative The extreme cold in CO at elevation messes with charging times and such.

I like the Nissan Ariya awd ... the Tesla Model Y awd ..... been looking at Hyundai ioniq5 and ioniq6. Looked at old Leaf too. I watched video on youtube where the russian accent reviewer stated in some places can get a brand new Nissan Leaf for $9000.

The proposed Tesla model 2 looks interesting but is it vaporware? On off coming going gone never has been will be? Elon Musk says it is coming but then they say on youtube by content makers it can't meet their project price point. $22,000

Yes! After jumping through the hoops and figuring out all the details... .. got it for about half off.

A 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV.

And I got all the incentives, but am still waiting on the Xcel $5500 which is after the sale. All the other incentives came off the top. I'm overwhelmed with all the tech in the car but am gradually getting it. :)

Installed a Level 2 charger yesterday.

It is grid connected but hope to get it connected to my inverter or even a separate inverter in the future.
I can probably get by with Level 1 charging from my 110 and current solar power set up but need more panels. :) (see it's all a ploy to get more solar panels! :) )

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is great... but the incentives did not apply to it (there is a specific list of models that get it).

Enjoy!

A local Nissan dealer is doing a $20/month 2-year lease on the Leaf!! Seriously! Because of all the incentives and etc.
Didn't really get to see the Aryia but it does look like a good possibility and uses the CCS charging instead of the Chambleayas (ChaDeMo) whatever. :)

I have a 15a level 1/2 charger that charges my ocean. It's plugged into a regular 110v outlet. It was on sale, I paid $160 for it. Definitely good as a backup since I can take it anywhere and plug it into a regular outlet. It actually died last month, but they replaced it under warranty in about a week. During that time I went to an electrify america fast charger and charged up in 20min.

I've since bought a pulsar wallbox level 2 40a charger, but I haven't installed it yet.

Excellent. That's kinda what I did... installed the Level 2 charger but have a portable level 1/2 that came with the car and have another portable 1/2 coming today which I'll leave in the garage to charge level 1 from my solar power. :)

Nice looking car!

I actually bought the SRNE ASP 10K 120/240 split phase inverter to run Level 2 charging and was seriously considering EV.
Still am and it is the hook to buying more when it comes to solar. 😀
I think if own EV should do best to cut out the over loaded grid pull. They hit taxes on EV when buy new tags every year.

Family member has Nissan Ariya and loves it I like the info on Tesla Model 2 suppose to be lifepo type batteries with extremely long life. 20+ years for them.

I'm going to make a solar charger for it, just an 3kw inverter, maybe a 5kw battery as a buffer, and some solar panels on the pergola.

There's a company that makes an AIO that's coming out soon, but they want top dollar for basically exactly what I"m doing.

Hopefully when it comes out, china will copy it quickly and make a cheap version.

Just curious ...... Are there places that will work on it if you get a major problem?

Yes, there's 16 service centers around the country, one being 40min from me. Also there's a dozen mobile techs that will travel to you.

Fisker owners have basically banded together to share info to keep the cars on the road. There's a bunch of information and resources coming out.

The only real issue that the cars can potentially have is failed water pump, it's well documented, new pumps are available, and it's not very difficult to replace.

I love my ocean, and one just got listed for sale not far for 20k with 800 miles, in big sur blue(blue matte finish) with white sea salt interior, and i am really considering it. It's just so much vehicle, it's so comfortable, it's so fast with 575hp, and because the parent company has gone tits up, no spyware ability to do things to my car.

With a 113kwh battery and a 360 mile range, and one of the few EV's that supports V2L, just the battery alone is a huge feature. Plus it has the solar roof that can add 6-10 miles of range a day. And it's big enough to fit all the stuff with plenty of capacity. Not to mention the tow package allows me to haul my trailers.

Yep...that's kinda what I'm thinking....
