Looking to replace semi agm’s w/Lifepo 4

I am trying to find affordable Lithium Ion batteries to replace my 4 agm’s. I found one company that has them for 950 a piece which are 100 amp hour batteries. They have a BMS and have a heater in them with a safety start system if the temp drops below 25 degrees. Does anyone know of a battery like this in the 300 to 400 dollar range?

YOu need to let us know the inverter make/model and voltage desired. Specifics are important, you can't just slap random things together and there is a lot of variation.

The cheapest 15kwh diy pack is $1200. The cheapest 5kwh server rack pre-build is ~900. Both are 48v.

Where will you be keeping them? Will it be going below freezing? If not, a heater is kind of not a factor.

Lithium ion, or lion, is not the same as lifepo4, or lfp, which are commonly used in home solar setups.

Are these being used as "starter batteries" or " aux battery" use ?

If it is for "starter battery use", then AGMs are hard to beat, unless you use one of the ultra cap type solutions.

If it is for use instead of a secondary power system generator to run the air conditioning, etc, then this sometimes is viable to get 3 - 4 hours of air conditioning.

They will be used for both starting and aux use. This is the one I found that has all the things I need but at 950 per battery.

They will be sitting under the drivers seat out side the truck so they are exposed to the different temperatures.

As much as I am pro lithium, when it comes to starting batteries, stick to AGM. Thou some lithiums are rated for the current, they bring other issues like much much higher charging draw on your alternator. Vmax, vehicle case AGMs are very good and probably the heaviest( don’t scrimp on lead).
They are up there with Trojan and Rolls

keep the starting (chassis) as AGM and the HOUSE as Lifepo4
plenty of options on charging them

either separate chassis / house charging disconnect the BIM
or use a dc-dc ........... or other strategy. some BIG alternators can handle the larger demands of lifepo4
any Solar panels? they work well at keeping the house charged.

are you living in the RV or just camping once in a while

There are lots of budget friendly batteries watch some of Will's videos on battery tear down
I got my batteries 2 x 100ah 200.00 each they have performed flawlessly for 12 months
CONSTANT use using 12v fridge NO Inverter

Amazon Elfhub .. they now have 200ah and 300ah batteries

if living in the RV............ add a roof full of solar panels
for the standard 12v loads I got 2 x 370w panels and have NOT had to charge up the battery........ via shorepower or generator

Cold weather....
a) bring batteries inside the pass through or under bed If you are warm they will be too?
b) us a external battery heater $40.00

throw some insulation around battery install inverter /converter near battery to help add heat
lots of things you can do for charging and heating

IF storing the RV over winter ....... simply disconnect house battery so it can't be charged

Battery prices are still getting lower ... look for batteries with a known history
my batteries had been on sale at least 3 years now....
if they were crap there would be more Bad reviews.... I always expect some bad reviews
but a long term history is more important IMHO

There are a couple of different challenges to what you are attempting:
- Finding a battery that is good for both starter use and deeper discharge use
- Finding a battery that can handle the temperature range ( both hot and cold )

Li batteries, due to the chemistry, are really intended for use above freezing and below 110 F.

Sun heated blacktop is very hot in the summer.

Indiana is a state that experiences real winters.

So if faced with your goals, I would be tempted to use a capacitor type battery for starting use, and if you want Li, then put those in a battery case that you can keep warm in the winter, and protect from the road in the summer.
