LV6548 does it support grid tie by plugging into AC120 outlet?

Hi all, looking to start a system and add a battery later to a full sized home. From research it appears LV6548 would work, but what I cannot seem to find is if a sub panel is required or can I just lop off an extension cord and wire it into grid that way , similar to what Will did for the smaller MPP units on his channel. This would be in PA, PP&L if it matters. Initially I would not care about credits, just lowering grid consumption. Thank you!
