Has anyone else noticed how hot the control panel gets on these units, especially around the RJ45 ports ?
Has that always been the case with older production runs or is it something new ?
I opened up a display and immediately saw what is causing this, a linear 7805 voltage regulator. I measured its input and it is 14v. That poor puppy is working hard and not likely to last long term.
I would like to know if anyone else has C3/C4 bridged like mine is.

Is that 3rd picture showing a WiFi card daughter board attached to the main board (I can see the little antenna trace on it)? I wonder if not using the WiFi then perhaps one could remove that daughter board for lower power consumption?

Or another potential idea is to just keep a spare control panel around if one thought there was increased risk of a failing board. Has anyone else ever had theirs fail?

I don't remember hearing of it as being an issue, sometimes electronics just run hot, but they're still within their operating parameters. I suppose if someone had the inverter mounted in a non climate controlled environment in the Arizona desert say, it could be at higher risk of having heat related failures.

I saw a YT video today that a user was trying to upgrade the panel firmware, and couldn't until he put the naked control board in front of the output of his AC unit. What in the heck?
