Hi Folks, I want to connect AC IN from my MAIN Panel to my GROWATT 3000TL via this manner: 40 Amp Breaker (Single Pole) ... Direct Wire into the Inverter. Now.. Is that overkill? The Wire for a 40 Amp Connection (8/3) is pretty beefy and pricey. Is that overkill? I have seen many folks on YouTube use "Old Extension Cords" to power the thing. Seems sketchy. 40 Amp is the Max Charge Current so I assume it should be = to AC in on this inverter. Thanks for your Knowledge...

Actually I think it's only a 2000 watt charger.
40a *51.2v = 2048 watts.
2048 watts /120 = 17 amps.
Limit your ac charging to 30 amps and you can use a 15 amp ac breaker or 35 and use a 20.

The growatt is also a transfer switch so its the bypass rating that we are concerned with, no?

True. Forgot that. But I don't see the max passthrough current listed on spec sheet or description. Driving so can't dig into the manual.
