I have 2 Victron 250/100 MPPTs and am planning to run NewPowa 240W solar panels due to mounting restrictions. It is connected to an 800Ah 12V battery bank, possibly expanding to 1200Ah. I am trying to figure out the max number of 240W panels I can run in a series/parallel configuration. I have 8 panels in hand, figuring I was going to run those 8 panels in a 4s2p configuration. I have run the numbers thru various solar charger controller calculators and am getting conflicting information.

Can someone more familiar with MPPT sizing run the numbers to clear my brain fog?

Here are the details of the panels:

PRODUCT CODE - NPA240S-12H

Maximum power (Pmax) - 240W
Voltage at Pmax (Vmp) - 23.32V
Current at Pmax (Imp) - 10.16A
Open-circuit voltage (Voc) - 27.08V
Short-circuit current (Isc) - 10.71A
Temperature coefficient of Voc - -(80±10)mV/°C
Temperature coefficient of Isc - (0.065±0.015)%/ °C
Temperature coefficient of power - -(0.5±0.05)%/ °C
NOCT (Air 20°C; Sun 0.8kW/m² wind 1m/s) - 47±2°C
Operating temperature = -40°C to 85°C
Maximum system voltage - 1000V DC
Power tolerance - ± 3%
Maximum Series Fuse Rating - 15 A

Holy crap. I only got this far and think this is screaming 24V or 48V system. Reading on...
8 panels in a 4s2p configuration.
4x 27.08Voc = 108.3V (nerd to eventually compensate for low temps.
2x 10.16A = 20.32A

240W x 8 = 1920W
1920W / 14V charging voltage = 137A

Your SCC will only charge at 100A so you will leave 25% on the table.

With a 24V battery:
1920W / 28V charging voltage = 68.6A very reasonable.

I am running an MP-II 12v/3000Va/2x120v. I think I’m too far down the rabbit hole to go 24V
