I have an somewhat odd situation. I have a property with two buildings behind one PG&E meter. The other build has had a ~3Kw grid tied system from Solar City, now Tesla for almost 15 years. I'm on NEM 2.0 because of that system.
I installed ~6Kw solar, two EG4 power wall batteries, and a EG4 18K Pv hybrid inverter. I have it running right now off grid. It runs my house well and I love it. I'd like to connect to the grid mostly for those winter months when the days are shorter and cloudier when I'll probably need some backup from PG&E so I've applied for a PTO from PG&E.
What a pain. The application process was confusing and took a long time. It was accepted (not approved) at the beginning of April. I've been waiting since it was accepted. I kept getting emails ever 2 weeks saying they were busy. Recently, I finally got some movement, but not much. I got a email and the first paragraph says:
"A Pre-Parallel inspection (PPI) must be performed on EG4 Electronics: 18KPV-12LV. This is an inspection of new equipment being used in generation installations and is performed to ensure the new equipment and configuration does not negatively impact the grid and meets the required safety standards.
Your project has a status of “Pass with Condition” until all necessary reviews are completed on the equipment and system configuration."
Later in the email it says I can get a conditional PTO if I lock the batteries in the off position and send them pictures. I don't want to do that.
Is the PPI an onsite inspection? Am I just in another hurry up and wait situation? Has anyone else experienced a PPI?
Thanks,
Terry
