Micro Inverter to heater element

There are some microinverters on the market that allow for up to 4 solar panel inputs that are designed to supplement energy usage or supply a dedicated 120v load. I've been going around and around about PV to hot water heating and I'm wondering if this is a viable solution.
The input would be from the house 120V supply in my attic on a timer to come on at about 9am when the sun is up. Two 340w panels into one of these 1000w microinverters wired to the thermostat of the lower element. A 4500W 240V element at 120V is 1125W output so that seems matched.
It would sip about 400w from the house (ultimately from my grid tied inverter) and the other 600w from the panels assuming a clear day.
Downside is no hot water without grid.

Challenges to this idea?
