Micro Inverters ???

Yes I have the DS3
How have your DS3 units been working?

I agree...you need a wired connection to update firmware on the ECU (wifi interface), then for updating firmware on the microinverters, which happens automatically. They would then work without an internet connection, but you would not have the benefit of firmware updates.

So you can buy just the micro inverter from Enphase and APsystems and nothing else and it will work?
It’s not just monitoring I don’t want. It’s nothing but the micro inverter.

I have seen videos where Enphase won’t work unless monitored or something. The red light is on.
I assume low cost is a priority since you want to avoid paying for a gateway / monitor (though you did not state so explicitly).

Enphase is certainly not the budget option.
APSystems has elected to stop supporting the DIY market.

NEP is much lower cost than Enphase and they support DIY: https://signaturesolar.com/nep-2-panel-micro-inverter-2-meter-drop-cable/

They will function without their gateway but for $200 all-in, it’s a convenient way to monitor that all panels are functioning properly.

I’m using their BDM600 dual-Microinverter which can handle 2 450W panels but they are currently introducing their BDM800 dual-Microinverter into the US market and will likely be introducing their BDM1000 by this time next year (it’s already launched in Australia).

The Aptos Microinverters are the new kid on the block (in the US market); https://signaturesolar.com/aptos-800w-dual-microinverter-mac-800r/

Priced near the midpoint between NEP and Enphase, I don’t know whether their more expensive gateway is required or not.

The Aptos Microinverters are manufactured by Hoymiles which are also available through a few new U.S. vendors (including at least one active in the Forum).

And then there are the new Solark Microinverters which should launch next year. They seem to be priced and spec’ed similarly to Aptos/Hoymiles and won’t have any track record for at least another year..,
