Yikes! An 8k model?

I've got a 12k, and I'm not sure it's working right--can't maintain a low temperature in a fairly small room (circa 140 sq ft) with the door shut. With thermostat set to 62º (minimum), room will sometimes be over 70º, but it'll only be pulling 300 watts. Summer is nearly over, though, and thankfully, I bought it from a warehouse club with an indefinite return period. Does give me pause about getting another, though...

Mine would turn "on" but the compressor never turns on so never blows cold air. Maybe same issue as yours?

I don't think so. The compressor does run, it just never ramps up to full power, regardless of how wide the discrepancy between thermostat setting and measured temperature.
