[Midnite Solar Classic] How to connect and export logged data? Looking for simplest way to download historical data

My neighbor has a small off-grid system based on the Midnite Solar Classic. This was installed over 10 years ago and has operated fine. He asked for help connecting to the inverter and downloading the data from the unit - all he has is an old iPad tablet and he realized a PC laptop would be easier.

I am open to help him but I am not sure what I need to do to connect to his Classic inverter - I never touched one before but with good and clear instructions I am confident I'd be able to do it.

Could someone list and explain the steps required to connect my PC to the Midnite Solar Classic and download/export historical data?

I've been acquiring Midnite Classic operational data since 2016 with a Raspberry Pi for data acquisition and reporting. This morning, I published a Github repository with Python code that can be used to get Midnite Classic data easily. It might help: https://github.com/qcda1/MidniteClassic.
