I am running a (4) Lithium 100Ah 12v Batteries wired in series for a 48v system and need to add another bank of 4 to add power storage.

Do they need to be the same brand with the exact same operating specs (exact volt ranges on the min/max and voltage outputs) or is it not that big of a deal as long as their all 12v 100Ah Lithium?

All series elements should be as identical as possible... same age, same brand, same model, same capacity.

All parallel batteries should be as similar as practical.

A 4S2P bank with each string made of identical batteries from different manufacturers is generally a non issue provided you ensure they can be wired 4S. Some 12V BMS do not support that.

Ensure that you charge all 4 batteries to full as 12V individually and then in parallel before you series them.
