I’m running the MMP Solar LV6548, currently I have two 40Ah 48v BigBattery NMC batteries in parallel. I want to add 4 more of the same battery. Should I remove the two from the system and parallel them with the new batteries to bottom balance them. Or can I just add the new batteries to the bus bar? If I can is it important that all six be close in voltage in order to balance or will the BMS work out any differences in voltage?

Try to connect them when they're less than 0.2V apart. There will be a momentary surge that shouldn't adversely affect things.

The BMS do nothing but monitor the cells and make decisions based on their programming. They are completely unaware of the other batteries. It's the parallel connection at the bus bar that forces all parallel batteries to essentially the same total voltage.
