Mobile solar generator to power 50 amp RV

Anyone know why my Victron multiplus inverter won’t power my RV if I connect it to the 50 amp shore power cable into my mobile solar generator? My microwave will work but not the TV or the AC outlets throughout the RV.

Only one leg of your system is working.

50A RV have two legs to the AC panel. They are typically fed by split phase 120/240VAC power from a 50A shore power receptacle.

Your inverter only outputs 120VAC. I only see L, N and G into what appears to be a NEMA 14-50R plug.

This is how they're wired:

X is L1 and Y is L2 when fed by split phase.

Since you clearly don't have 120/240VAC split phase output, you can't properly feed the plug.

If that plug had a red wire that you cut, Y is dead, and only the things powered by X are live.

Had you used a 30A receptacle and then plugged into it with a 30-50A adapter, the adapter shorts L1/X to L2/Y, thus providing:

0V between X and Y (no 240VAC input). X and Y both have 120V to N, BUT they are fed the same line, so they are 0V to each other.

Wow! I really appreciate you taking the time explain that to me. I understand now. I’ll get a 30 amp receiver to attach to my solar generator n use my 50-30 amp adapter. Thank you sooooo much!! ???
