What are the best (i.e. most reputable) online retailers for Victron gear in the USA? I know of invertersrus.com and currentconnected.com, but I do not know how reputable they are. What are the best online stores to buy Victron gear from? Same question for quality solar components.

Pricing, authorized dealer, and quality customer service are my priorities.

Bought from both those rock solid, with current connected they'll double your warranty from 5 years to 10 years on certain items I think.

For DIY, is there any advantage using a local Victron Energy dealer? There is one in the marina near my home.
When I first got into solar a few years ago, I tried the local marine dealer approach. Not a good experience for me (they're not into residential solar and have limited knowledge). I ended up buying via Amazon for that system. I got lucky there, but don't do that! I eventually discoverd Current Connected and have been very happy with them, for both Victron and EG4 gear (I have two systems). BTW, Victron has an office near me and while they can't sell to the public, they were very nice and answered a few questions when I was just getting into solar.

Adding what others have already mentioned: if you're new to solar and thinking about Victron or think you know a lot about about solar but are are new to Victron you really need a good supplier. Victron has a dizzying variety of variations of almost identical products and don't even get me started on how many different communications protocols they have. Without proper guidance it would be very easy to end up with a pallet full of components that you thought would talk to each other and your Wi-Fi that don't do either.

I haven't looked lately but once upon time Victron offered zero factory support. EG: You can call Sol-Ark with your Sol-Ark issues but that's not how Victron works. All support must come from the supplier.

If I'm buying just one small piece of Victron equipment I'll go online. When I buy an inverter or multiple items I buy directly from a dealer.

Dealers that I've used and will use again:
ICMontana.com - They responded to an email for help on a Saturday, during hunting season even!
CurrentConnected.com
SolarSupplyHouse.com
BayMarineSupply.com

I got all my Victron stuff from Current Connected. That being said I got more support from my battery dealer who is also a Victron dealer. Dan from Trophy batteries. He's a real MVP, helped out with issues on equipment I didn't even buy from him. Not that CC was bad per say but Dan definitely has the experience with the Victron stuff and knew exactly the issue.

I used Pike and inverters-R-Us via Amazon
for the small stuff, shunt, small SCC, lynx (free shipping).

In 2024 for my Multiplus I went with Current Connected and have no regrets. They did ship me a 2022 model which was before a hardware update for cooling fans. Victron offers a retrofit kit PMW modulator, I reached out via email with a pic of the SN of the unit. About a week later they dropped shipped me the part no questions asked.

I like the Victron devices because the the MPPT inverters and DC/AC inverters are independant,
by opposition to the All-In-One solar systems.

However, Victron don't provide arc detection to trigger rapid shutdown as required in some states.
I wonder if there is a way to add a module to provide such capability?

Otherwise, what are the others manufacturers supporting arc detection and making separate MPPT devices?

Yes the made in USA Midnite Solar Hawkes bay 90A and 120A single tracker and Barcelona 200A dual tracker 600V sccs have optional add in boards for ground fault and arc fault detection and are ul1741 listed.
