Hi All,

I've finally gotten around to installing my MPPSolar PIP 5048GK, and have encountered a problem...

First up, system set up...

Inverter as above, https://mppsolar.com.au/product/pip-5048gk-5kw-48vdc-solar-inverter/
battery Pylontech US3000 (3.2kW) LiFePO4 https://aasolar.co.nz/product/pylontech-us3000-lithium-battery/
PV array, 6 x 410W (410W Mono PERC Half Cell Silver Solar Panel, Voc 50.12V, https://aasolar.co.nz/product/410w-mono-perc-half-cell-silver/)

Before I had the array fully wired I thought to try the inverter with the battery only. It was showing SOC as 3 lights of 6. I connected the battery (but not the PV), and turned on the battery and then the inverter. The inverter started up and within 30 seconds shut down. I was checking something else at the time and so didn't see any error codes prior to shut down.

Now the PV array is set up I can't get the inverter to start at all. I have read that low battery voltage can cause a shut down, but it should start with PV supply. Any help?

I have checked the internal fuse and seems ok. I am away from site ATM, but will check battery voltage today.

cheers

Andi

Possibly a defective unit. Your test should have worked. The 30 second shut-down with no load is not at all expected. Nor is failure to power on again.

Disconnect array from SCC until you can get it to power on.

Did you pre-charge the capacitors with a resistor before connecting the battery?

Do you have battery voltage? Surge from capacitor pre-charge can kill BMS. Hopefully that's not the case. Discharge rate of 75A per is very low compared to what can happen with surge and is insufficient to drive your inverter at its max power. The fact that the unit came on at all is a good sign of this NOT being a BMS issue.

Hi, I have the same unit, mine has shut down tonight, won't restart, I'm thinking internal dc fuse.
It came with a spare, can you point me in the place of where the fuse is so I can check it please
Cheers

Hi, sorry to hear. I did pull the main board out and I think the fuse is on that somewhere (not helpful I know). Possibly you can access in the panel where the leads go in...
My GK is still in its box under the bed, I bought a slightly different model and have used it no trouble for 6 months now

Hi Batonage
I bought a slightly different model and have used it no trouble for 6 months now
Out of interest, what unit did you replace your PIP5048GK with?
The reason I ask is because my PIP5048GK reports fault 51, doesn't produce AC and I don't know why. I've hardly used it any never thrashed it.

Thanks
