My build thread

I just need more solar panels.
Of course 3 months of battery capacity would solve everything. lol
I noticed that since I added the Luyuan box with another 14 Kwh that it takes some time to get to 100%.

There is a cure for it, more panels. :)

I have a smaller single mount left and a large single pole mount left. The I beams are different size between the two. The tilt mechanism and the pole mounting are the same. I've been eyeing the mounts thinking about just sourcing some I beams and making the small mount into a large mount and put the two together like I did on the mount with the missing panel on the bottom row. I doubt I'd go 5 tall again as most panels are now around 45 inches wide and the rails are 17 feet long.

Another 9 Kw of panels would get me to about 26-27 Kw. Total battery capacity is 188 plus I have another optional 14 Kwh for winter.

It's been 36 days since I've seen 100%.
I should get there again, in February.
here in utah, we have had sun and my battery has reached full every day or 2 - BUT starting friday, lots of clouds coming for the next week, so may start buying electrons - that will be starting for first time since march

While the 'Offical Solar Tester' (OST) was out all day, I was doing great incoming solar running the shop and house loads charging up ESS, then BAM! SUDDENLY 13kW load hits me like a bolt of lightning - look out the shop window - yup...Kona in the car port, OST in the house, dryer hot water heater, electic oven well pump...oh well, sun will be back in another five weeks or so...sigh.

If they would only get these back in stock…

I think I could build one of those, cheap Amazon plastic box with a window made of plexiglass and a pvc 90 elbow. All painted with a can of silver paint. Put some plutonium in there and I'll be set.

One other project I've been working on has been the particle accelerator to make hydride to run my vehicles on hydrogen like Bob here. If you don't who Bob is, he is the fella that said he worked at Area 51 and saw little green men and crashed UFO's there.

I checked my current To-Do-List... "Build a Particle Accelerator" is still pretty darn far down that list, and no funds have been ear-marked for it so far...
If I could build a particle accelerator, wouldn't I also be able to just build a flux-capacitor, leap-frogging right over one technology to a better one...

But then you have to build a flying train instead of driving around in your hydrogen powered Vette.

We have had quite a stretch of clouds for a while here as well. Some sun the next two days and then overcast as far as the weather reports shows. Hoping for a break in the weather for each of you.

Now, see, a flux-capacitor is next on my list to build

It's been days here for any charge. Ice storm, then heavy fog and drizzle. We have been running entirely on battery. I did turn on the grid breaker to inverters last night but still have 14% left this morning. It is possible the sun might come out and the fog clears as the wind is predicted to be around 20 or more.

We've had trash for days. I didn't even get 1kwh the last 2 days. Since the weather is so bad and I know we've already had a couple blips, I have one of my Chargeverters tending the batteries at a higher voltage to keep them above 90%. If we lost power, I could easily make > 24 hours before needing to roll out a generator.

My first season w/ solar so I guess it's new to me, but...this definitely stinks. Even before the days were getting crappy my meager set of panels could generate a decent amount, enough to completely offset using the dryer during the day. At least the days will start getting longer again in 6 days.

Not much different up north of you guys - it was -27C (-17F) and clear last week and now it is above freezing and overcast/fog/rain...So I pulled the trigger on swapping out the MPP 6048's for the new SRNE 12K's - not missing any PV anyway...not in this weather! :ROFLMAO:

I'm bringing down my system in the next week or so to measure resistances and do some upgrades.
In celebration of the winter solstice, shortest day of the year.

Now just watch, it will be bright and sunny.
