Hello all,
I plan to add a 2000w pure sine wave inverter to my trailer, my goal is slightly different than most popular installation, and here is a rough design, please let me know if you see problem with this design, I know more details are needed, but I just want to make sure I am not starting on wrong foot.

I put the ATS on a single breaker from converter AC panel, instead of put it on AC input of converter, for a couple of reasons
1. I do not want to run my AC/DC fridge on inverter, when I am not on shore power, it's more efficient to run on 12v directly without the inverter energy loss.
2. I do not want to deal with the complication of a battery -> inverter -> converter -> charger -> battery loop. I don't know how this would behave, but not dealing with it would be great.
3. Circuit 1 has receptacle in all places in the RV I want inverter power (kitchen, dinette, external outlet, etc) already.
4. I am not going to run high wattage appliances at the same time. in most case the inverter would be running < 200w load. I do want to use a microwave, rice cooker, and hair dryer, but never the same time.

Here are the parts I am considering:
Inverter: https://www.renogy.com/2000w-12v-pure-sine-wave-inverter-new-edition/
ATS: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/329...exp_id=d9676b87-3e5c-474c-80ad-08b0fb5ed9f0-1

I prefer inverter without built-in ATS as it allow me to mount ATS close to Converter which is not very close to inverter.
for ATS, I want something compact, I don't care much about switch time, I just need something that can automatically switch to shore power when it's available. I am open to better options though.

Thanks!

Long story but I power 3 circuits like this. Works great.

Can't beat the price but consider this transfer switch: https://www.donrowe.com/KISAE-TS20A-Automatic-Transfer-Switch-p/ts20a.htm

Plugs direct into the inverter. Simple terminals to connect the Romex.

I like my GoPower inverter. https://invertersrus.com/product/gopower-gpisw200012/

Shop around.
Thanks! that ATS looks great, but looks like it requires 20a outlet :(. the inverter I plan to buy only has 15A outlet.

Get an inverter/charger and disconnect your converter(if you have one).

Wait, they do have a 15A 1800w model, thanks for the recommendation again!

As most do. I once installed 15/20A outlets in a home circuit, but never had a 20A plug.

So cut off the funny 20A plug and install a 15A one. It'll never draw more current from the inverter than inverter can deliver.
It is up to you not to plug in larger load than the inverter can power.

Looks like the plug is for your inverter, while utility AC input and load AC output have screw terminals (to be hard wired)

Get a decent one with granular configuration to make your life easier.
BTW an inverter/charger includes an automatic transfer switch.

I have 3 of these Go Power 30a (120v only) ATS - https://www.amazon.com/Go-Power-TS-30-Automatic-Transfer/dp/B00153EYTO They are ETL (e.g. UL) listed. Have been running 2 of them for 3 years now on my home Solar system where they switch twice a day when inverter comes on and goes off. That's 2000+ switch so far I just added one in my trailer - and I noticed the newer models have WAGO connectors... very easy to hookup :)
