I’m a newbie who needs help/advice….What size t fuse or other suggested type fuse and battery cable size will I need for my camper trailer that will have a single 12v 100ah lifepo4 battery? ( I thought I would use 8awg 0r 10awg cable ? )
The load on the battery at most will be @ 12 amps at any one time. I only am powering an exhaust fan @ 5 amps, led lights @.17 amps ea., and fridge panel draw which is @ 1.2 amps. A furnace fan is also 5 amps when running and needed.
I’ll be using either a single renogy 100w suitcase or possibly 2 of them in parallel through a Victron 75/15 charger and SmartShunt using 10awg cable. I also plan to use a 50a circuit breaker on the cable running to the Parallax 7345 45 amp ac to dc converter and a 20amp mega fuse coming from the charger/controller to the battery. Does this all sound reasonable ???
Thanks for any help and suggestions,
Gary P

Thanks for the link…..Do you mean brake system ? If so, yes….it is a Casita camper trailer 2005 Spirit deluxe…

oops Yes Corrected above.

How is the brake system powered? The reason I ask is that there have been cases where people have inadvertently disabled the brake system when they modified their trailer's battery system.

Since you are staying with 12V it is not as likely to be an issue, but it is something to be aware of.

wire and fuse sizes have nothing at all to do with the size (Ah) of battery (though bms may determine max ampacity); wire size is determined by max expected amp flow from battery to load, and fuse size by ampacity of wire.
sounds like you should run a large wire from battery to a 12v fuse block and run your smaller loads off the fuse block.
the large wire should be sized based on the total amps of all combined loads and protected by a fuse, placed as close as possible to battery, based on the wire size
