Hi all,

I live in Panama and am installing a dc powered 24 volt 1/3 h.p. solar powered water pump for a tiny pool that needs to run 6 hours a day, I live 7 degrees north of the equator and was told by the pump manufacturer to use two 150 watt 12 volt solar panels, I also thought it may be wise to have enough capacity to charge a battery as well?
All of my attempts to talk with vendors on EBay in regards to help with design have not been successful...If someone has any help and can give me anywhereI can find information on this I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

If the budget allows I'd double the panel count, 2 strings in parallel of 2 panels in series. That is 600 watts of solar @ peak production. Likely closer to 400w real world week to week.
I'd plan for storage to to run the pump 3-4 days of low solar production if it's critical. Otherwise just figure your critical needs, storage wise & plan for that.

Yes, I agree another two panels for the battery(s) charging would be great, rarely do we get more than two cloudy days in a row here...December through May is dry season with absolutely no rain and hot sun

I have absolutely no experience with any previous solar so I’m solely going by help I receive

Maximum Power Point Tracking Solar Charge Controller.
It converts excess panel voltage to charge current by tracking voltage & current of the array & optimizing their wattage produced.

It would benefit you greatly to watch these videos:

Then be sure to ask all the questions you have! Lots of great help here.
