Neutral Wire: Sol-Ark, Generator(s), and Load

I am puzzling over the neutral wire connection requirements.

Off-grid, using Sol-Arks drawings is straight forward… the generator is wired to Grid input for charging the batteries and pass-thru and SA & generator neutrals are connected.

However I am off-grid and have wired a source-select switch such that I can disconnect the Sol-Ark L1 L2 from the house and the generator from the Grid input, and then connect the generator to the house. Thus the house can be powered by the SA or the generator itself.

When I switch to the generator to power the house, the SA L1 & L2 are isolated and the generator is switched in. The switch is only 2-pole, so only L1 & L2 are switched and neutral remains tied to the house, the generator, and the SA.

This functions as I expected but today I wondered about the affect of not switching/isolating the neutrals.

I have used the switched generator configuration without noticing any adverse effects. In fact, I often leave the SA running and powering the powerhouse while charging the batteries from the PV.

Do I need to change the source-selector switch to a 3-pole?
