Would love to hear your thoughts on this: Click Here to see it on aliexpress (non affiliate link)

Seems to have multiple communication methods:
  • UART ( UART is UniversalAsynchronousReceiver/Transmitter, It transforms the data to be transmitted between serial communication and parallel communication. As a chip to convert parallel input signals into serial output signals, UART is usually integrated into other communication interfaces.)
  • UART 485 (RS-485 adopts balanced transmission and differential reception, so it has the ability to suppress common mode interference. )
And some useful modules that work with the new communication port:
  • 485 to USB
  • 485 to CANbus!!
  • Bluetooth
  • Key lightboard (? not sure what this is for)
  • GPS module (cannot find it for sale, but it states that GPS module can attach to bluetooth connection)

Wow. Thinking Daly has good reputation (except possibly in low temp shut off arena); looks like a possible winner with new user configuration options. Looking forward to your hands on review. It does have some choice options that I do not understand yet re: UART or UART 485 or UART485CAN. I image you will be able to explain those options. Hope to see your Youtube clip on this one.

While studying the web page for this Daly DL8S 24V Smart BMS 80A 150A 250A bms;
I noticed after scrolling down: Strong load ability, constant discharge current 30A /40A /50A/ 60A

I wonder if that is a misprint (doubt it), or the possible limiting handicap of this Daly BMS. I would want to be able to get a 250A discharge on a BMS rated at 250A. Will: When you get a chance to review this one; Please help us understand this part of the picture, and options for getting the full Amp rating on the battery discharge side.

Not sure what "2: NTC sensor " means.
Perhaps its a temperature probe.
I think it is. They call it ‘Negative Temperature Coefficient‘ sensor.
It uses a thermister as a temp probe. In a normal resister the ohmic value increases with heat ( PTC ) but with the NTC the ohmic value decreases very precisely and can be used for quite accurate temp measurement.

What, me worry?
Exploring the store I found this:

This looks interesting for my 12V builds.... but there is a lot I can't tell about it.
* The scary thing is what @Capt Bill pointed out. Is the continuous current 60A for the 250A product?? This would be a showstopper for me.
* What settings are 'fixed' and what settings can be adjusted.
* Can they be adjusted by the Bluetooth app?
* What are the ranges for the parameters?
* Is the bluetooth app available in English?
* It looks like it might have low-temp protect.... but I can't tell for sure what the settings are.

It looks like they custom burn the prom with the settings you want. That is kinda strange. I wonder if that is fundamental to their design or if it is just that the app is not ready yet?

You are NEVER going to get a Discharge of more than 50% of ANY NON-COMMERCIAL RATED CHINESE BMS ... seriously ... virtually every BMS I have gone through - and I have gone through allot -- at about 50% of me pushing a continuous rated HIGH value through them it either turns into a room heater or the things just literally melts the solder off the connectors ... A 250aH Daly giving you 250 is like a VW Beetle going 120 because it has a 120 speedometer -- just ain't going to happen ...

  • GPS module (cannot find it for sale, but it states that GPS module can attach to bluetooth connection)

So you should be able to take one of those cheap $10 GPS modems that you can buy off Ebay that looks like a puc with a 5m tail -- cut off the USB - strip the wires and connect it that way ....

They are probably trying to capture the market for those "PLUG AND PLAY" solar enthusiasts .... pretty smart idea ... just tell them what batteries you are using .. the voltage you are using .. and what you want your charge and discharge values to be and they can do the rest ....OF course it looks like once they burn it there's no going back ...

Hi
I received one of the early Bluetooth BMS (still have it in fact) but it was DOA so never really got to test it. At that stage they were using a programme on WeChat (under the Discover / Mini Programs) to talk to and make changes to the BMS. I hope they have go them to work as I do love the form factor of these.

Yup I usually derate by half. This one looks like you need to derate by 2/3!

60A?! No, they made a mistake on inputting the data sheet. That's not true. Keep in mind that aliexpress ads are "copy and paste" from previous products sometimes. Derating by 1/2 or 2/3 is plenty. That 250A BMS will handle 250A. I have multiple videos testing this and it's not an issue at all. If someone can post a video proving me wrong, let me know. I haven't seen a single FET based BMS derated by that much. I am pretty darn sure its the ad that is mistaken. Not the products capability.

Which one? Did you reverse polarity it? I have 9 Daly BMS and have never had a DOA. Which model was it? Which distributor?
