I am about to order the new Deye inverter 8K - SG05LP1-EU-SM2 and the Chinese supplier said that Deye doesn't let them to sell their new inverters to Europe/ UK / USA/Pakistan.
8K - SG05LP1-EU-SM2 will be locked for USA/UK/EU/PAKISTAN

The price is obviously half if you buy it from China $700 for 8KW
So by not putting the Dongle is it going to work in the UK ? Any suggestions welcome
How Deye knows that the inverter is on in the UK /USA if I don't connected to the internet ?
Does it have a SIM card inside or a GPS to know the location ?
I have DIY seplos batteries so not all the inverters will accept my batteries, I have a string inverter selling to the grid already.

What about alternatives :
-New Solis S6-EH1P(12-16)K03-NV-YD-L
- Growatt
Any experience with Seplos V3 BMS / batteries ?

cheers

We really don't know for sure.
If they aren't shipped locked, then they will work fine, as long as you don't connect them to the internet.
But if they are being shipped locked, now. And only the correct vendor can unlock them when final delivery is completed. Then you won't have the unlock code.

Time will tell til a hacker , hack the systeem and make keys.
Somting that will come by a smart china people that like to sell the inverter overseas.

Solis is not a solution as they are expensive and not many watts, and you can't put 2 in parallel...
I don't think they sell them locked as if you buy them for Africa for example they will work.
The question is you don't plug any dongle and you set it up and it should work but do you know if it needs internet for first time ?
If you supply internet using a VPN with African or Dubai or China IP do your activations and then remove the dongle ? Is that a plan ?
Yes they do go for $700 shipped 8KW hybrid and imagine they do have profit out of that.

Its a plan, whether that plan will work is unknown.

Best you find an alternative.

I don't see the reason why not to work.
Do they need any activation btw ? the older models they didn't so why will I need to connect them to the internet now?

I wonder if they are doing something silly like using the IP then an app called GeoIP to get the location or a simple ARIN lookup of the super block to see country of issue.

If they are the simple solution might be to put a Rpi in front of the Deye that has a VPN that terminates in Australia or other legit country?

So power it off, put this in front of it on its own SID or wire to the Rpi then power it on... it now thinks it is in a legit company and clears the code... from here forward never connect to the internet again

Solis is not a solution as they are expensive and not many watts, and you can't put 2 in parallel...

Solis has 16kW models for EU and can be paralleled and cost less than Deye and without all the issues with Deye.

My system uses the the 11.4kW US split phase version and have two in parallel, lower cost than Deye as well with better specs and features.

Solis is one of the largest inverter manufactures on the planet and doesn't use the exclusive market for sales or rebrand other manufactures hardware. Here is the page for all Solis Energy Storage Options

Whats the price of the solis 16kw ?

Does the new solis 16kw works with Seplos batteries ? because the older ones had compatibility problems thats why Deye was better but now that they can lock you out and have a zero value hardware I might need to consider Solis

Are you sure they said locked for EU? I do understand locking for a new unit sold in USA/UK/Pakistan, because they have different distributors there (Sol-Ark, Sunsynk, Inverex respectively), but until now there has been no exclusive distributor in EU. And that's why I have two Deye12Ks.

DEYE stop sell them to USA/EU/UK/Pakistan, they want you to buy the Sol-Ark, Sunsynk, Inverex in double price.

You are in the UK so Buy the Sunsynk branded Inverters and you won't have to worry about regional issues.
Also customer support is a lot more important than the money you will save getting one with no Customer support and no warranty.

Whats the price of 2 8kw Sunsynk in the UK ? 2x £1,549= £3098 or $3946 when I buy from China the new Deye 8kw for $700 x 2 = $1400
Who is making the big cash here ?
what support are you talking about? if they burn i order two more since is costing me cheaper. do the math
, you set it up and then you forget it

I'm assuming the UK government recognizes and protects Intellectual Property rights.
Also, you can't claim ignorance of the law, "Caveat emptor" = buyer beware.
