I still haven't run the lines from my panels to the FB21. I worked last night to get the panels that were a S4 to a S8 and install my disconnect switch outside. Is the lower MPPT voltage making a difference?
No. I tried 4 panel array yesterday after updating firmwares and no detectable change in behavior. It still produces almost no power when Vmp drops to 120.Is the lower MPPT voltage making a difference?
Did you get a replacement unit or are you managing the fault on the unit that failed?
Is this on the 18kPV or the grid boss?I also noticed a change in a fan behavior when it gets on above 6000, to my ears, it does not go to 100% fan at 6000…. instead, it seems more along the length of 75% but that’s just me. I will share a video shortly so you can decide for yourself.
We are currently working on making this available on our EG4 website. In the meantime, if you’d like to update to LCD v23, please send us a DM, and we can get it installed for you.It says there is LCD Firmware V23 but online has Firmware V20. Where do I find V23?
Please send us a DM with your inverter's serial number so we can look into this issue for you.I did the update today. Weekly schedule is still completely broken for me. Anytime I try to set a time in the weekly schedule it gives me the same "Operation failed, error code: 3" with no additional explanation or help.
For now I'll just be manually changing the schedule times every weekend so it doesn't needlessly use batteries during off-peak weekends. It'll be my weekly reminder of how much of a joke this company is. It never occurred to me the software could be so bad on a $4k product like this.

OK, quick recap: Follow the formatting and file copy instructions from the 18kpv, use the USB port on the side of the add-on display *NOT* the one on the communications board. No need to restart the whole inverter, just unplug/replug the display. It'll stop with two of the hexagons on boot up screen, sit for a bit then restart. You'll know it worked since it'll have the new EG4 logo and obviously the new version.
It’s not for the setting it’s for tracking earlier.False hope.
Upgraded firmware.
Power down reboot.
Still unable to set PV Start to anything less than 140V.
Rewired to 4 panels and power produced on that string still oscillates from 5W to 45W per panel as MPPT fails to hunt for optimal output. Other strings are stable. Its cloudy today, so I'll see if they get some cloud edge and get closer to 800W/m2 for nominal output.
What exactly changed???? What does "Improved MPPT behavior" mean?
Still unreliable production until 140Vmp then? It’s not for the setting it’s for tracking earlier.
There were no issues before we were just seeing customers with smaller arrays could get a bit more out of their PV this way. It’s a small upgrade that give a bit more tracking.Still unreliable production until 140Vmp then?
I'm excited to try it out. There were no issues before we were just seeing customers with smaller arrays could get a bit more out of their PV this way. It’s a small upgrade that give a bit more tracking.
To be fair this chart doesn't show anything useful unless you back it up with more information. Did the inverter have somewhere to put the power at all times is the main question, otherwise it could have just been throttling the input based on load. This behavior on a sunny day with 4 panels? Production collapses.

That is fair. I am grid tied full sellback. Not trying to rehash issues or bash eg4 efforts, but trying to understand what the improvement would mean for my system. Here’s the thread. I don’t have the data from that inverter any longer because it’s dc to dc board failed this summer. To be fair this chart doesn't show anything useful unless you back it up with more information. Everything worked great today. Just updated the LCD on the 18Kpv this evening with success. I’m not having any issues with this firmware.Just did the update with my 18Kpv and Gridboss. I kept getting timeouts on the second part of the update on the 18Kpv. Had to switch to the app and directly connect to make the update finish correctly. GB had no issues updating. Will report back tomorrow if I see any issues.
If you download this file, the folder name is still "LCD V20" and the 18kPV screen says V20 after an update and full reset.12/18kPV LCD Version 23 Firmware is now live.
I couldn't get my LCD to update last night. I've done it several times before and this one wouldn't even initialize. I even tried a few different thumb drives. If you download this file, the folder name is still "LCD V20" and the 18kPV screen says V20 after an update and full reset.
Edit: I cleared my cache and redownloaded the file, and it says V23 now.
Oh, OK, that's a landing page, which didn't render right on my phone (DOH!), you mean:If you download this file, the folder name is still "LCD V20" and the 18kPV screen says V20 after an update and full reset.
Edit: I cleared my cache and redownloaded the file, and it says V23 now.
I might be thinking of something else, but I had to do a complete wipe of my thumb drive (not just reformat, but write zeros all over it with Linux 'shred') and then reformat it as FAT, otherwise it had some 'standard format which is OK for everything except certain embedded micros' partition scheme which prevented it from working. I've had to do this on several embedded firmware devices...I couldn't get my LCD to update last night. I've done it several times before and this one wouldn't even initialize.
