We actually put a diesel drenched rope in it first, then had to up the temp by pouring more diesel in and dropping in the rag.

A class D fire extinguisher was on hand to put it out if an issue had started thermal runaway.

This is not covered under warranty LOL

Diesel is actually hard to light on fire and keep lit. Most likely why the rope was extinguished so fast and you had to pour more diesel on it. Would probably be a different story with gasoline.

They mention batteries that are not closed loop.

So overcharging is a concern for open loop setups?

we have seen 2 instances where a budget Chinese MPPT shorted input to output by mosfet failure and placed 200+ volts on the batteries, the results were a BMS fire because it can only protect up to 120VDC on the 51v packs

So a closed loop would prevent this, but not an open loop?
