New Growatt hybrid inverter SPH10000TL- HU-US split phase

BTW, my script uses RS485 to poll the inverter but the port shuts down now and then which is annoying. Does SA have the same problem of losing access to the port?

Just buy the cable. If you don’t have a cable with an FTDI chip, it won’t work. Ask me how I know
Yes, I have several FTDI cables so I'll try those first since those work with the inverter. What I'm asking is if communications is lost after a while. The inverter shuts the port down here and there.

You could, but the power company will most likely notice it at some point. What they do with that knowledge is up to them.
What if setup a critical load panel? Then will be no problem using the power company to compensate for not having enough PV energy. I might not telling them at all since my inverter is not in the middle (entry power and breakers panel) like a whole house.

Honestly, if you have no intention of an interconnection agreement and having the inverter hooked to the grid, this is the wrong unit for you. It will leak power to the grid at some point

It might leak some to the grid anyway, there is no guarantee if you have grid input hooked up. Those of us who want to guarantee no feedback do double conversion with a separate battery charger.. like the eco-worthy 60 amp or the eg4 chargeverter.

Where does it go this battery charger? Isn't the inverter charging the battery in real time? For this configuration I would not connect the inverter to grid? Thanks!

You connect the battery charger to the grid and your batteries. The inverter gets no connection to the grid. The battery charger charges the batteries, your inverter converts it to AC. Since the inverter has no direct connection to the grid, it can't backfeed it.

It's inefficient, because it's converting AC to DC to AC.. but it's the only way to really be sure with these AIO hybrid style inverters.. and it does kind of defeat the purpose of it being a hybrid unless you get a good deal on it.
