New JK BMS to Victron Cerbo GX cable

Good morning! I just recently swapped from my old JK BMS to the new JK-PB2A16S15P. I'm trying to establish comms between the JK expansion board CAN port (2nd from the LEDs) and the VE.CAN on the Cerbo. I'm using the included patch cable that came with the new JK BMS. However, that appears to be straight-through and not a crossover. Should this connection be a crossover cable? I seem to recall Victron looking for CAN on pins 7&8 but not sure if that's 1&2 on the JK BMS. Thanks!!

That doesn't really address the JK BMS CAN port wiring. I'm looking for someone that has actually made these two communicate.

Nope, but it tells you that pin 3 is ground, pin 7 is CAN high and pin 8 is CAN low. You indicated uncertainty in your initial post, and it's important to know the destination requirements.

Now you just need to know how JK wires their connector, and you'll have your answer. I can only help with the Victron side.

Good news! I took a guess and put together a Victron "Type B" cable as linked above. The JK inverter BMS does have CAN H on pin 4 and CAN L on pin 5 on the second RJ45 jack from the LEDs on the expansion board. That's counting in the traditional L-R method!! I connected that to the left VE.CAN port on the Cerbo. The right VE.CAN has a CAN terminator. The CAN was configured using option 4 on the JK BMS. On the Cerbo side, it's Services/VE.CAN port. Select CAN-bus BMS LV (500kbit/s) for the profile. After that, you should be able to see some TX/RX activity under Network Status. Hope this helps someone in the future!

Cerbo-S with only VE.CAN, or are you using VE.CAN on standard Cerbo?

If standard cerbo, I'd switch to BMS-CAN, so you can use the VE.CAN for Victron devices.
It's the standard Cerbo. Most of my devices are VE direct. I guess I could swap ports but nothing really gained at this point. I don't anticipate adding any more Victron devices.

Thanks Ryan, this was exactly the info I needed to get communication between my PB2A16S20P and Cerbo GX going! Strangely I could only set the CAN option in my phone app. Andy's video "JK Inverter BMS: These adapters actually work! RS485 and CAN, Adapter Test and Cabling Guide." mentions victron type A cable and I guess that's confusing many, me included. Thanks!

Thanks, after changing the setting CAN-bus BMS LV (500kbit/s) it worked for me.
Now trying to get ESS to work...
