I still think metal roof is a better choice for solar panels

Some things to think about when looking at a metal roof is to be prepared to pay twice the price of a shingled roof. Approx 750 to 800 per square. Depending on the complexity of the roof. I would not even consider Ag panels or PBR panels on a residential structure. Only Standing seam.

That being said. Shingle technology has advanced considerably in the last few years. If I was about to put a new roof on my home and I would not even consider metal due to the cost. Todays shingles typically have a 130mph windload. 10 year algae resistance and a limited lifetime warranty.
