New Ruixu Battery

I received the same email :) I wish I would have waited for some self heating units as our 'power shack' is unheated. Already have 4 server rack Ruixu's unheated and they are stubborn to warm up.
We have to add more batteries so like to complete the server chasis with two more and then seriously look at these units.

Just got the email this morning, a wall mount or floor mount (with wheels) Ruixu battery. 16kwh (314 Ah) self-heating with canbus and rs485 comms.

With early bird discount code plus shipping it is $206.19/kwh, lowest I've seen thus far
did you get? I think your math is 3300 USD divided by 16 is 206.19 or so. So if you could find a device closer to $199 per kWh, would you buy it then? Would that be a screaming deal? is that closer to what it costs to DIY build your own? Thanks.

I did not get this one, couple months ago I got the EG4 Indoor wallmount unit, was more per kwh than the 206 and more than what Ruixu has it at now. Went that route mainly due to support in the off chance I need it

Is this battery weatherproof and suitable for outdoor mounting?

‘Electro-coating (electrophoresis) of the battery enclosure provides excellent rust prevention for outdoor use.’

I’m trying to understand whether this Ruixu battery competes with the EG4 PowerPro All-Weather battery or cannot be mounted onto the exposed outer wall of a house in the same way…

That statement reads like it but I don't have one nor am I a Ruixu export. I'd look at the manual for certifications of how weatherproof it is or reach out to Ruixu directly

I'm not sure if the Ruixu 16kWh has battery heaters like the eg4 all weather.

Edit nevermind, it does.

"SELF-HEATING FEATURE
Keeping your battery charged in cold temperatures ."

I was more focused on whether you can mount it outdoors where it will be hit by direct rain during a storm and direct sunlight during a hot part of the day…

The life of LFP cells drops dramatically with higher temps like could be experienced outdoors in direct sunlight. I would put them indoors in a conditioned space unless required by code. Heating is fine for winter time but without cooling it's a problem begging to happen imo.

Been posting on exactly that subject in another thread: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/w...-3kwh-diy-lifepo4-battery.90679/#post-1205152

Have a DIY LiFePO4 battery in my basement now which is ~65F all year long, but I want to get it outside the house due to fire safety.

A modest reduction in cycle life from 8000 cycles to 7000 or even 6000 cycles is a price I’m willing to pay fir the added safety of having my LiFePO4 battery mounted outside the house…
