I am a newbie when it comes to solar. I've watched several of videos but get lost in the technicalities as almost everything entails either large systems or tiny systems. I can wire things myself, I took a few classes in college on circuits and electrical setups, built a few radio kits and small robot kits in college. I'm working on turning an inherited property into a small scale homestead. I am wanting to build several off-grid barns that would hopefully be powered by a central system in the main barn. I will be doing meat/milk goats along with meat rabbits and chickens. I'll be doing water collection for the livestock, along with heating elements to keep said water systems from freezing in the Central Arkansas winters, which are not extremely cold but we do get below freezing regularly.

I'm on a tight budget, but there are a few things I would like to do with my system. I'd like to mainly use Solar to charge the batteries, but would like the ability to charge the batteries via an propane generator we have in a pinch with out having to disconnect and reconnect batteries. I would like to be able to check the battery levels via my phone. I will be starting small, with only an estimated daily kWh usage of between 0.5-1.5 kWh to start with. With a max peak load of around 300W to start with possibly around 800-900W later when I add in a small mini fridge for goat milk. I know the basic components and layouts but get bogged down in brands and reviews.

Let me know if you need anymore information.

System Requirements
Solar & AC Charging (recommended solar panels?)
Bluetooth/Wifi Monitoring
~2 kWh battery storage, expandable (simpler layout in series)
~1000W Inverter

I'm on a tight budget,
You should hook up with this person (@Mattb4) looking to unload solar panels cheap: (both Arkansas anyway)

Hopefully, schools are putting 'DIY Solar' in their curriculum nowadays. I would have enjoyed taking the class. 📖
