I've been slinking around watching Will's vids and other solar vids. I am convinced that I need an off grid system. I have talked to solar companies and even electricians who say they will do solar and have been either told they will not install the components that I want to get as it would be a steep learning curve for their technicians, (Will's current double EG4 all in one set up with 50kWh EG4 battery), they cannot get them and will sell me their own system, or they are so busy that I can't get them to call or text me back. I would like to talk to an electrician as I am not sure if I even have split phase. I think I just have 240vac available in a couple spots but mostly 120vac. Anyhow, we are seriously considering buying 2 EG4 6500exs, 40-50kWh of 48v EG4 budget batteries, 24 460w BlueSun bifacial solar panels, a dewalt heavy duty utility shelving unit and various breakers, disconnects, T class fuses and lots of copper. If anyone has any advice or knows someone who can help near me, I live between Lansing and Detroit, I would really appreciate it. Also, I saw Will install batteries on their side on the Dewalt rack vid. Would that work with EG4-LifePower4 Lithium Batteries?

Hi neighbor (well kind of)
I'm up by Mt. Pleasant/ Clare.

If you are hooked to the grid through DTE or CE then you are probably Split-Phase. There are a few old straight 120v, 2 wire places around, but you should have two 120v legs at 180 degrees out of phase with each other (240v between them) and a neutral wire wire where you'll see 120v to either leg.

The batteries you are looking at might come with racks. I've ordered some SOKs, but FedEx stalled out in Chicago and those are supposed to be coming with racks.

I sourced 32 Trina 375w panels from the Amish in Clare and have been ordering online for other things. They use 24v systems with lights, well pumps and freezers, inverters aren't a main part of their needs.

As mentioned, waiting for batteries and some wiring so I don't have anything up and running yet. I have no other experience with solar, but thought I say hi.

Here's some pictures of my Iron Ridge ground mount, 24 panel that I added a couple braces to and 8 more panels.

Lots of good info on this site,
Brian

Nice ground mount! I haven't considered one of those. I was thinking that I would plant some 4×4 beams in concrete and make something. Your idea sounds easier. I'll have to weigh the costs.
