How do you guys separate the glued cells?
I am having a hard time doing it to reconfigure the double modules to parallel.
I feel like dental floss is better than sewing wire.
If i use a thin plastic credic card ou spatula it will leave big horrible marks on the cells.
Alcool helps to disolve a little bit but it still fells like very hard glue.
WD40 makes it like liquid glue but it's very hard to clean because it is extreamly sticky.

Welcome to the forum.

Few use leaf cells here.

Looks horrifying.

Goo Gone or Goof Off?

Is it worth having modules in series to build a small battery and then then put those smaller batteries in parallel?

acetone should work but i am afraid that it would destroy the rubber sides on the cells as you can see in the pictures, or the plastic.

Those of us with leaf NMC cells typically dont unpackage them from their enclosures. IMHO the risk of damage to the soft pouch cells is by far to great to be of any benefit.

Useing them for a 12v or 24v pack just doesn't work well. The 7S config for 48v packs is straight forward, no need to de-case them.

gasoline should work too, vinagar does nothing, i actually found HG Sticker Remover but by the time it gets here i would have finished already.
I spend like 2 hours on each module, 6 done and 6 to go.
Using wd40 only to clean up at the end, never using it with alcool because that's when the mess happends.

I have used Nissan Leaf modules in the past and have never encountered them glued like that. Mine were held together in the original.pack by long bolts.

Interesting that this just came up, as I just disassembled a 2018 Nissan Leaf 40KW battery this afternoon. I bought the whole wrecked car 6 months ago, so all my cells are matched and it's a low mileage northern car, (I'm in Ontario) so I hope the capicity is in the 90% range. All the cells tested at 8.0V. I am interested in how you are configuring your bank. I did not want to separate the cells and want to use all 24 modules so I was leaning towards 6 -16s packs (4 modules per pack). So each pack would only have the factory 2p cells and then the 6 packs would be paralled. I know the 16s configuration puts the bank voltage a little high for a lot of inverters, but the one I am considering (Sol Ark 12K) goes to 63 volts, so I will just under charge them and gain some battery life.

Curious to hear your story and other comments on configuring these Gen3 (or is it 4) modules.

i will be using them in my car, for a 48v powerwall you can build a 3x 16s packs (8 modules) but you can only charge to 3.9v wich is very safe for the pack.
Or you build a 14s and sell the extra 3 modules but you will lose 4800wh out of the original 40kw.

wd 40 works more on rust and metal, I have not tried to dissolve glue with them and will not)

after doing 8 i can say wd40 works the best for me, at the end i clean up with alcool but only after it's 99% glue free or it will make a mess.
wd40 liquifies the glue, alcool makes it like a gel very hard to clean

I used them for a while in a 7S configuration. The BMS I was using had a limit of 60 volts so that was why I did not use an 8S configuration. If you charge to 4.15 per cell (8.3 per module) make sure your equipment can handle 66.4 volts.

Hi would you be ingested in selling a single module?
