I recently bought an off-grid cabin in British Columbia and have been thrown enthusiastically into the world of solar power, but I can really use your help... I had an 8S 48V SLA battery bank that was end of life, and I am replacing it with a 16S LiFePO4 48V (3.2v200A cells) with a DALI BMS.

My question is: Can I use my existing Outback FX series Inverter/Charger, or do I need something different?

Model: VFX3648
Continuous Output 3600VA
120VAC 60Hx 1 Phase 30A
Battery Voltage 48VDC
Battery Charger 45 Amp

Charging set points for the new LiFePO4 batteries:
Charge Voltage 3.65V
Recommended constant current200A (1C)

Any help appreciated!

Probably. LFP is a good drop-in replacement for FLA/AGM/SLA, but you'll need to dig into the specs of the inverter/charger to see if you can change the absorption and float voltages or change any profile presets as most have different broad options like AGM, FLA, Gel, etc.

Note that the Daly BMS does not have low temp protection, so you will need to devise a means of ensuring the batteries never charge below freezing.

Thanks snoobler, I dug into the details and it looks like it is appropriately programmable. Yes need to add low temp protection.

Appreciate the quick reply
