I've got an old pack that I won at an industrial auction for silly money, and I've just bought a little travel trailer that needs air conditioning and a coffee maker (needs, yes, this is how I camp whatever)
The assembly contained two packs with SAFT part number MOD-VLM24-084-2P7S-S1, and a real BMS (with a HUGE MCCB and contactor) with part number BMM 769853. I reckon this was part of a microgrid prototype based on where I got it.
Each pack contains 14 SAFT cylindrical cells. I'm running a cycle test on one of the cells right now (as you can see in the photos) to try and get an idea of the capacity.
From my understanding, SAFT make some really serious batteries (aerospace and defense, big grid-scale stuff) and so I'm inclined to not throw this thing in the garbage.
It was for sure configured as a 48 V setup (2P14S, sorta thing) but I don't think I want to do that in my application, so I'll be re-wiring it as 12V packs (7P4S).
Does anyone have any recommendations for a BMS? My last setup used a Daly BMS and...they're OK, but I reckon things have moved on somewhat from when I was doing that build.
Does anyone have any idea on where I could find some kind of datasheet (chemistry, standard charge, anything) for these cells?
