My friend is an accomplished electrician/solar contractor. He was asked to look over a system that wasn’t living up to expectations so he went out to location on a sunny day and found a few things. The system has three Sol-Ark 15ks that seemed to have a wire color conflict, bad MC4 connectors and possible bad optimizers….so far.
The polarity is actually correct to the terminal but doesn’t match the wire color. What he’s going to check next is if there’s any actual damage to the MPP’s in each inverter in case they did multiple guesses. The original installer ghosted the homeowner after he got paid. The system was installed to code and passed inspection but lacking pride.
