I am designing a PV system with Bifacial panel with 550W output and Tigo TS4-A-O Optimizer and RSD.
My solar system permit application was bounced back from City because one of this requirement: “the solar module's short circuit current multiplied by 1.25 (and if module is bifacial, there is an additional multiplier of 1.3) is higher than the RSD device’s Maximum current (ISC).”
After doing some research, I noticed that the common Short Circuit Current(ISC) for most of Bifacial panel with 500W+ output is around 13A-14A.
But the Maximum current (ISC) for Tigo TS4-A-X series product is only 20A.
Which means 13A x 1.25 x 1.3=21.2A>20A, and this will be always higher than Maximum current (ISC) for Tigo TS4-XX, which is 20A.
The panel with 500W+ output will be ideal for me since I have limited roof space. I really don’t care if it’s bifacial or not since I have asphalt shingle so bifacial panel doesn’t help too much. But by some reason, the available panel with 500W+ output with reasonable price are all bifacial. Do I miss anything here?
I noticed Tigo has another produce line TS4-X-x series, with the Maximum current (ISC) is 25A, but by some reason, there are not too many places online to sell it and I even cannot find a real price for this unit.
Any suggestion will be apricate, Do I miss anything ? or do I have another Optimizer and RSD options for Bifacial panel with 500W?
