Wondering if anyone can help me. Wanting to use the Oupes Mega 2 in a van build. Wanting to charge it with car alternator and Solar. It appears to have one Anderson connector for input.
  • Solar Charging 2100W Max, 12-150V DC
    MPPT: 18-140V, 15A Max
How would I go about doing this? I want to be able to leave both connected at all times. Is it possible?

Also was looking at the B2 expansion battery which also has an Anderson input port for charging. If I added this could I hook one up to Solar and the other up to a doctor dc charger?

Thanks for any help. Still learning and trying to figure this stuff out.

Easy: Etaker F1000 charger. It is the approved solution for single large dc input powerstations.
500W solar, AND 500W alternator for 1000W total feed into it, and it feeds into your 1 powerstation input. No messing around swapping inputs.

I write posts on powerstation truck camping all the time, trust me, this is the answer.

And yes, you can also do as you asked with the B2 battery.
Here is a vid I made doi.g exactly that with the Pecron e1500LFP and its expansion battery... solar into exp batt, dcdc into main powerstation.

Video works, just disabled embedded, click the "watch on Youtube"

Thx much;)

I will take time to point out then:
Solar Charging2100W Max, 12-150V DC
MPPT: 18-140V, 15A Max

So, F1000 is:
  • 【Parameters】 Car input 12-30V, 40A (300W/400W/500W), Solar input 12-48V, 20A (500W MAX), Dimensions 14x10x2.7in.Total supports a maximum output of 1000W, achieving the function of fast recharging.
So: car is 13.5v say at 40A, that peaks at 540W, so 500 max.
Solar is 20A max, 12 to 48v panels, may be limited by panel voltages of your setup.
The Oupes has limits though. I THINK f1000 is 42V output, so at 15A charging that is 630W total.

Right now, that B2 is a smoking deal, just $547 extra if you select the combo, not separate into your cart! For that low, Id get the B2 also, then you have 2 huge mppt inputs, no limits. Then I'd feed solar to one, and use Etaker $218, Pecron 500w car charger $149, or Bluetti charger1 $249, to feed from alternator to powerstation.
Bluetti lets you remote on off or change amp level from phone, useful so say it starts raining at night and you're using lots of alternator power, you can reduce dcdc amps. Also output volts tweakable.
Etaker best to combine solar and dcdc if just 1 mppt input.
Pecron works great, 200,300 400 500w choices, good price. I have one.

I'd buy the mega2 plus b2 combo deal, my current #1 truck camper powerstation choice!

This is super helpful. I’ve been looking at the deals and the Oupes 2 plus battery looks great. Just wanted to make sure I could make it work. I’m building a new van. My old van has a Goal Zero 1500x with 2x100 panels on top of van and alternator charging. Has worked great but everything I’m reading says this is old battery technology. I run a 12v fuse block off the yeti and basicallly want to do the same in he new build. I don’t use 120 a ton but like the built in features of a power station.

If your gz 1500x is working, there is no reason to not just use it... I wouldn't buy a new one, but I wouldnt throw one away either.

Hi, I'm an "EX" Oupes user... I would not recommend buying any products from this company. I've had a bad experience. Someday I'll do a writeup about it explaining my non recommendation.

Yeah, they had a rockin' deal for $1387 for the combo mega2 + B2 smart battery. So I bought the brand new set. It was cheaper than buying a factory refurbished unit!

Anyway, thanks for posting the info for the etaker F1000. I actually ordered their newer version(back order) F2000 so I could do at least 800w on my RV 12v battery alternator.

I have an on board Onan non-inverter generator, but was told I couldn't and shouldn't use it to charge the Oupes units. The oupes needs pure sine wave electricity to avoid damaging them. Well, I don't want to void my 3 year warranty.

Honesty, I am wondering if there's an available "bypass" pure sine inverter 120v to 120v. I could plug that to any of my motorhome outlets while running the Onan generator. Then plug the Oupes to it to charge. This way, I don't have to run the engine and put less strain on the RV alternator and other components while idling for 1-2 hours. I don't see an issue while driving it tho. I'd rather use the onboard generator.

I've read they had a lot of issues with their older generations like the orange ones. I hope they fixed the bugs on these newer ones.
