I'm looking to finally get my batteries connected to a backup generator through a chargeverter. I'm planning on going from eg4 power pro batteries with degson to a busbar then from busbar to chargeverter and in turn to generator.

I bought these marine grade pike bus bars (https://a.co/d/3FwzHlC). Looking to have them mounted outside along with my batteries. Is it recommended to have an enclosure of some sort to put the busbars in or are they good to go as is with the cover they come with?

many put the bus bars inside of 6x6 or 8x8 raceways indoors that I know of. might be a one off for outdoors
or plastic boxes

I have several bussbars out side at the different pv arrays then another on each set of pv cables as they enter the structure…they are about 80 volt +/- ..all the SCC’s are inside.
On both ends all the electrical stuff is contained within pretty decent grade plastic style weatherproof boxes ..they have metal latches and an O ring type seal …they also have a tab that you can put a small lock on the whole box…they cost about 40-45 bucks each.

I don’t use a lock , but then I have no neighbors or kids anywhere near here..

But , I wouldn’t want a goofball messing with stuff that goofballs do…especially kids..

I would put your bussbars in somthing to show the court you made an attempt to be safe, if you get my drift…
It’s a litigious world ….

( EDIT …Clarification…all the SCC’s are inside the structure, NOT the plastic box.)

Something like this?

Better to have separate boxes for each negative and positive bus bar?

Yea that’s a decent box just make sure you get one a tat larger than you think you need…it makes maintence and stuff alot easier … the opaque front ones don’t build up condensation in side the box like the clear front ones do in direct sunlight…Think on that before you buy…

I don’t have seperate boxes for pos and neg bars ….that would seem to be a hassle .

in my use I don’t need that but you could if you wanted.. just don’t go and pushin screwdrivers or wrenches all over the place and create a dead short…have enough room in the box to saftly work…

There are many opinions on what your asking , these are just mine…
Good luck.

J.
