Panel disconnect?

I've read yes, I've read no. Erring on the side of caution when shopping. All the switches found looked like they belonged in a breaker box. I imagined something simpler..
720w parallel mppt 12v

On a related matter: Is there any chance, if the scc fails, say, 100 battery amps (4 gauge) could flow through those puny PV wires (12 awg)?

I don't plan to have one. With 2 panels your not at a huge risk of high voltage arcing or over current.

You should put a fuse between the battery and the PV/Charge controller

I would use something designed for automotive or marine battery disconnect. Like the type drag racers use in there cars for safety.
