Parallel battery cable length

My 2 SOK 206s fused positives to common post have virtually identical lengths.
Is it imperative that the negative returns (via another common post) are the same as well?

Yes, the negative leads should be of equal length
- but they do not have to be the same length as the positive.

They should be, the battery pos and neg wires should be the same length from the battery to the common rail or buss, then any wires from there to, say... the inverter, could be a little different. Not that big of a deal.
For further thought, if the pos. Wires were all 12 inch and the neg. Were all 24 inch, That would be ok, (I hope I start an argument here) Does that help.
