Pet Peeve: It is a DE-9. A DB9 doesn't exist!

I recently had to buy a new RS-232 to USB converter cable. All of the vendors and most of the whole world refer to the serial port connector as a "DB9." Am I the only one left that remembers DB-25 connectors as the standard for serial ports? Probably not, because the DB part stuck when the "new" nine-pin connectors came out, but the unwashed never noticed that the D-SUB connector shell was an E size, not B. They also call a "VGA" connector a DB15, when it is a DE-15 (still an E size shell). A "Game Port" connector was a DA-15, as was an ethernet connector in some applications.

In hopes that you will all find interest in correcting this travesty, please refer to the D-SUB shell size chart below. Join me in the cause and only refer to them as DE-9!

P.S. The fun part of all of it is that D-SUB stands for the "D" shape and the "sub-miniature" size. They are enormous compared to more modern small connectors.
