The entire federal civilian workforce is 4.3% of the total federal budget.

60% of that is paid to those employed in the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Homeland security.

I think we can agree that the three departments above are likely exempt or last on the list.

That leaves 1.72% of the federal budget paid to civilian employees.

I've seen numbers like 20% thrown around. Let's use that. A 20% reduction in the federal civilian workforce OUTSIDE the above three departments is... 0.34%

Or about $22 billion.

This JUST pays for amount of money SpaceX has either received or is contracted to receive - about $20 billion - with a little leftover!

$125,000,000 per seat for the first 40 U.S. Astronauts to orbit after claiming it would only be $55 million.

SpaceX has spent 2.5bil out of 2.8bil for the Human Landing System, has delivered absolutely nothing, and is years behind schedule.

Overpaid for Twitter by about 8X and then completely trashed its value by another 8X turning $13 billion of investor money into about $200 million all while cutting about 40% of its revenue.

I dont regret my vote for Trump for a minute. The distinction between him and Elon is age. Trumps at the point where he sees his own mortality so his intentions are good. He only wants a good future for his children and his name emblazened in the history books as the one that made America great again, and whats wrong with that.
Musk OTOH is a cold son of a bitch whose only focus is on enriching himself, while his technical accomplishments may be commendable hes done it over the backs of people he considers completely expendable. His management style is reckless, even foolish, with little regard to the human cost for those under him. If you look for it, there is waste in every organisation, regardless if it is in the public or private sector and I fully agree that it is a very good idea for both sectors to reduce this waste. (Sadly it will never go completely away) Ideally if you do set up yet another department to do that, which is wasteful, you would want at least some one who is respected and trusted by all political parties to run it, but here you are...

US consumer confidence is also plummeting. Unemployment applications sharply rose, and inflation is up.
