Panels: ? considering https://diysolarforum.com/threads/s...-solar-panel-anyone-test-this.7617/post-81009

Charge controller: ? considering: Midnite Solar, Victron, or SMA + Power Optimizers, my research shows enphase has a higher failure rate, since I'm in snowy winter and hot summer climate I don't want to have to go up on the roof to replace a microinverter. Don't know if the newer microinverters are more reliable.

Inverter: SMA Sunny Island x 2

OR

Charge controller + Inverter combo: Sol-Ark

Battery backup: Nissan Leaf modules (rated 24 kWh, actual: 60-80%)

BMS: Batrium

Estimated total cost: $12,000 USD (doesn't include labor and time to install since DIY)

Solar quote :
7.56 kW panels = $20,000
Powerwall x 2 = $14,000
Total: $34,000 (installed)

TODO
- Decide ground mount vs roof mount.
- Still designing the wiring and how to meet safety and code regulations.
- Grid tie in via inverters or custom rapid disconnect & energy meter
